The Imperial Rome tour will bring you into the same places where the Roman emperors lived, walked, meditated and which they built through their sheer will. The Imperial Rome tour begins with Piazza Venezia, which is the famous piazza in Rome that coincides with the heart of the city where we will visit Palazzo Venezia, that was built between 1455 and 1467 on commission from the venetian cardinal Pietro Barbo, that later on became pope with the name of Paul II. From 1797 it passed into the hands of Austrians, becoming the headquarters of the Austrian embassy and from 1916 it was taken over by the Italian state. During the fascist years, Mussolini made it his headquarters, in which there is the World map room with the famous balcony where he would recite his speeches to the public. In Piazza Venezia we will furthermore visit the Vittoriano, a national monument dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele II of Savoia, first King of Italy and the Altare della Patria. We will continue our tour to the Campidoglio, one of the seven hills in Rome that owes its actual aspect to Michelangelo, we will then continue on to the Coliseum, known as the Flavio amphitheatre which is the most famous Roman amphitheatre. It’s construction was initiated by Vespasiano in 72 B.C. and was inaugurated by Tito in 80 A.C., when it was used for gladiator shows and other public manifestations (hunting shows, recreations of famous battles, and drama based on classical mythology ), we will continue our tour with the Foro Romano that was initially built in the seventh century B.C. when the first buildings were built for political, judicial, religious, commercial and social life in the city, afterwards we will visit the Fori Imperiali which were built during a century and a half (between 46 B.C. and 113 A.C) in the heart of the city of Imperial Rome. Right after we will discover Palatino, one of the seven hills in Rome, in which the legend wants that Rome originates directly from here. We will terminate our tour of Imperial Rome in the Basilica of Saint Peter in Vincoli where the Moses of Michelangelo is preserved.

The duration of the tour is 5 hours.
